He said: I said: 'My Master, can anyone see God?'

He replied: 'If He wills, He grants the gnosis of Himself to whom He wills.'"

He [the questioner] said: I said: 'My Master, is God veiled by anything?'

He replied: 'There is nothing greater than Him that could conceal Him; rather, it is sin that veils the creation from Him.'

Our Master al-Hasan bin Ali (may His might be exalted) said: 'Verily, we possess a station from God wherein—when we occupy it—we are Him; and when we depart from it, He is as He is, and we are as we are.'

Our Master said: 'Verily, I possess a station that has never occurred to the heart of man, nor has thought ever encompassed it.'

They asked: 'Is it Lordship (al-Rububiyya)?' He replied: 'Verily, Lordship [itself] never occurs to the heart of man.'
