How well it has been said by the poet:

What harm is it to the morning sun rising in the horizon,

If its light is not seen by one who possesses no sight?

It has been narrated from our Master, the Dweller of the Camp (Sahib al-Askar)—may His might be exalted—on the authority of Abu Sa'id, in a continuous chain of transmission (marfu’): I asked the Dweller of the Camp: 'Does God veil Himself from His creation?' He replied: 'Glorified be He! Their sins veil them from Him. Read the saying of the Almighty: {"No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned (veiled)" }1 . He did not say that He is hiding from them.'

He [Abu Sa'id] said: I said: 'It has been narrated from your forefathers that they said: "Verily, God veiled Himself from His creation through His creation."' He replied: 'Yes; they see us when [divine] power is manifested, and they are unable to look upon anything other than us. We are perceived in their eyes through our forms, yet that is not for all of them, but rather for the people of defiance and denial.'

As for the believers: They do not see us as a [mere] form 2 , but they see us as Light and Power.
