He says at the end of the second principle of this book: If an objector confronts us, saying: 'You claim that God, the Mighty and Majestic, is manifest through His Essence, and that His absence is as impossible as His non-existence; yet we now neither see nor witness anything. How can this be, when presence and absence, or manifestation and hiddenness, are two opposites that cannot coexist?' We reply: You have brought forth what has confused you, and the answer to it is easy by the grace of God.
Know, O objecting brother—may God grant you success toward His pleasure and lead you by His guidance to the reality of His gnosis: Verily, God is forever manifest and eternally existent. Nothing veils Him, due to the greatness of His majesty; for if something were to veil Him, it would have to be greater than Him, and that is rejected both rationally and through scripture. For God is Greater than it being said that anything is greater than Him. Among His attributes is Light, and He is the Illuminator of Light; and through light, everything hidden is made manifest—so how could it be possible to hide the Light?"
"He is only hidden from the veiled ones by the very same [attribute] through which He is manifest to the witnesses: namely, the intensity of His manifestation and the excessive brilliance of His Light.
