From the book 'The Notification' (al-Tanbih) by the Sufi, the Monotheist Philosopher, Sheikh Hasan bin Hamza bin Muhammad al-Shirazi (may God sanctify his soul):

He says: Thus, His manifestation to the human species was a human Name, while in His inwardness to the Intellect, He was a Radiant Light (Nur Shu'sha'ani).

He says: Another proof is what was mentioned in the authentic Prophetic report, that the Messenger of God (may His might be exalted) said: 'I saw my Lord in the most beautiful form.'

He says: And in another narration: 'God will come to them in a form other than the form by which they recognize Him, and He will say: "I am your Lord." They will say: "We seek refuge in God [from you]; this is our place until our Lord comes to us." Then He will come to them in His form which they recognize, and He will say: "I am your Lord." They will say: "You are our Lord, glory be to our Lord..."'—[and so on to the end of] the long tradition."

He says: Thus, He is Manifest; every person beholds Him according to what they have merited of His vision, until He appeared to them in the humanity of the physical realm (al-Bashariyya al-Nasutiyya) through the Visual Form.
