Then he [the Sheikh] said: "It is not the totality of Existence, nor the totality of the Deity pointed to as the Meaning; rather, he intended the 'Image of Existence' connected to the Worshiped One."

He says: "Rather, you have borne witness to an Image present to all existents, unique in Supreme Power and Grandeur, distinct from all other images. It is Essential, Luminous, Unitary, Eternal, Everlasting, Holy, and Sovereign. No beginning is known for it, nor does any end encompass it 1 ."

He [al-Harrani] says: "Once you have verified your purpose regarding this Image, you will attain the knowledge of all existents, the intelligibles, and the World of the Unseen. Through this, you shall be guided to your sought objective: the gnosis of the Specific Image (al-Surah al-Khassa) from which all other images are emanated. The Master [al-Khasibi] said in his treatise: 'An Image that has no fashioner (Musawwir), and an image that has a fashioner.'"

He says: "This is among the clearest proofs for his statement concerning the Visible Image."

Footnotes

1Do you see him [the author] referring to a human image with these attributes? By no means. Rather, he is referring to the Unitary Essence (al-Dhat al-Ahadiyya) which his Sheikh [al-Khasibi] pointed to when he was asked about it; the Sheikh replied:"It is the Attribute of the Lord, by which He veiled Himself, and it is none other than Him."
