Form; it is only the deniers who were veiled from Her [while She was present].
And he [the Sheikh] says: 'It was narrated from al-Mufaddal [al-Ju'fi] that Iblis was bewildered (dhuhila) by the Form; therefore, he became its enemy. For when you say to his followers: "The Creator manifested to them from the Tree in the Bush, and within the Fire," they find no fault in that.
But when you say to them: "He manifested in the Human Form," they turn away and wax proud with [utmost] pride.
[This is also related] regarding the account of al-Shibli, as narrated by the author of The Egyptian (al-Misriyya) 1 .
Footnotes
1I bear witness that I was present during a recent conversation between Sheikh Sulayman al-Ahmad and Sheikh Ahmad Haidar concerning the Form. Among the Allamah’s words to him were: "Indeed, the disputes and disagreements that have occurred within this doctrine were centered around the Form... until they [the scholars] said: 'Iblis was only bewildered by the Form, as if he had been wary of it.'""
