This is because the Sun's own light reveals its essence, while that very light remains a veil over its true reality. [Similarly], the Moon's light is derived from the Sun, because the Power (al-Qudra) has pointed toward the Form. In this sense, his saying is interpreted:

'And the Midday Sun rose, Upon me,

from the face of the Moon.'

Meaning: the Great Essence revealed itself to him through the Form of Grace (Surat al-Lutf). That is to say, the Form manifested all that the Essence was described with. In this same sense is his saying: 'From the Full Moon, the radiance of the Sun has shone within her.

And he [the Sheikh] says [quoting a verse]:

'And I never ceased watching the Full Moon of Darkness, Until I beheld the Full Moon within the Sun.'

For this expresses the Knowledge of the Form through the Essence. Meaning: the Power (al-Qudra) has pointed toward the Form (rather, it has made it known), and 'He is the Guide for His own proofs'. He has indeed belittled himself—the one who claims to know Her [the Essence] through something other than God.
