In 'The Revisions' (al-Muraja'at):

He says in his response to Sheikh Salim Nasir al-Hakim: 'And that is nothing but the explicit creed of the Sheikh: that the Visual Form is the Universal Goal; and whoever considers the Form to be 'other' than the Essence, his judgment is that of the Shurah [the Seceders/Kharijites] 1 .'

[Until his saying]: 'We believe that Effacement (al-Mahw), Increase, Decrease, and Incapacity are due to a cause within us, not within Him 2 . Had these [changes] been a reality [within Him], the cause would have resided in Him, not in us; and it would be He who is fluctuating, rather than the sights and the hearts.'

He says in the text of the First Fatwa: 'The Visual Form in this school of thought is the Universal Goal (al-Ghaya al-Kulliyya). Whoever believes that the Meaning (al-Ma'na) is 'other' than it, is like the Shurah [Kharijites] and the Nawasib [enemies of the Household] who disavow Him.'

According to the Nuriyya Sect: 'The two forms are One in reality and essence, though not in genus and outward appearance.'

Footnotes

1Has he not made the Form 'other' than the Essence—he who says that the Name is older than it, and that it [the Form] is created and originated? Such a person argues using the saying of Abu Dhibah: 'Indeed, the Essence is not seen in any state among states, neither on Earth nor in the Heavens.'
2What form [other than the Form of Existence] could manifest effacement, increase, and decrease such that it must be sanctified from them? Only the Form of Existence."
