The meaning of this verse is of extreme subtlety.

The Name [relative] to the Attribute has become hidden,

Yet for the Meaning of His Essence, it is Manifest.

Like the Sun; its own Light reveals its essence to the eye,

While [the light] itself remains a veil over its true reality.

He says: Whatever Power (al-Qadr) He manifested, the Essence displayed it to the people of Transcendence (Tanzih) and Affirmation (Ithbat). Yet, through the Form, He veiled the understandings from reaching the [ultimate] goal. For who could [ordinarily] conceive that the Creator of the heavens and the earth—of what is seen and what is not seen—is a Form? This is the meaning, even if language falls short of conveying it.

Indeed, that which my eye has beheld,

By the distinction (Mizat) of my [present] time:

Is 'He is Her' (Huwa Hiya) in existence, yet

She is not 'Him' within the limits of my time.

'He is Her in existence': Meaning, that which I ocularly witnessed of the Form is 'Her' [the Essence]; that is: He is the Essence in terms of existence, affirmation, and realization. Yet, She is not 'Him' entirely (Kallan) nor in [absolute] union (Jam'an), as per the allusions of the Folk [the Gnostics].
