For The Truth—Exalted be He—is transcendent above [any] spatial proximity or distance.
What was promised to others as a future hope,
Has become for me, in this very moment, a present reality (Naqdan).
He says: Meaning, that which He promised to others as a [future] promise, He has granted to me as an immediate, present reality. This refers to the promise of witnessing The Truth like [seeing] the Moon, as mentioned in the famous and authentic Hadiths.
And due to my incapacity to behold Her through Her essence,
She manifested through the Attributes and the Names.
He says: Because of my incapacity to witness Her through the Essence (al-Dhat), She manifested to me through the Names and Attributes as a gesture of grace and intimacy. Sanctified and Exalted is She [above all], yet the Visual Form is nothing other than the Essence.
Naught but Her has guided my heart toward Her,
And toward Her, She did not summon me except through myself.
He says: She did not call out to me from a form other than my own form. This is an expression of Her manifestation to him through his own attribute—though She is Exalted and Sublime above all attributes.
