He says: '{The Deity prayed upon their spouses' through His presence among them in the Form of Grace. The Almighty said: 'It is He who prays upon you and His angels' } 1 , meaning He bestows mercy upon you. He explains this through His message, saying: 'Meaning, He manifests the Connection (al-Ittisal) within your kind and adorns Himself with your [human] nature—He and the inhabitants of His sacred ranks... etc.'

And He whom I witnessed from Him as Manifest, Became Hidden within me through my own appearance.

He says: 'Witnessed' means ocularly perceived. That is: He whom I witnessed as Manifest became Hidden within me; meaning, because of the Form, Manifestation (al-Zuhur) and Inwardness (al-Butun) are one.

The Truth—Majestic is His Majesty—is Manifest through His Power so that the Gnostics may take it as evidence of Him; and He is Hidden through the Form—meaning by withholding its [true meaning] from the deniers. This is because they do not comprehend the meaning of The Truth’s manifestation—Glory be to Him—through a Form. This is the meaning of 'Inwardness during the state of Manifestation' (al-Butun fi hal al-Zuhur).
