And she brought me forth from my Unseen to witness her,

Her beauty within a Veil that is not veiled.

He says: Meaning, so that his beauty may witness her through the Form of Grace (Surat al-Lutf), within a veil that is not absent from the sights of those possessing Insight (Basa'ir). And this Veil is not other than the One Veiled (al-Muhtajib).

Witnessed, yet no creature among mankind sees her through it, Though she was witnessed among the creation through me.

He says: 'Witnessed': Present and ocularly seen... [until his saying]: 'And I quenched [thirst] through my attribute' is an allusion to the Form of Intimacy and Grace, which is the Limit of Manifestation (Hadd al-Zuhur).

Contentment (al-Rida) displayed her beauty in the

Persians [or the expanse], so they rejoiced,

In her beauty; yet she vanished within the darkness of Wrath (al-Ghadab).

He says: Wrath is the opposite of Contentment. Both are expressions for the Form of Omnipotence (Surat al-Qahr) and the Form of Grace (Surat al-Lutf)."

And he represented the Reality (al-Haqiqa) for me in an Image (Khayal), Just as in light, a thing is reflected by its Shadow.
