From the Diwan of al-Muntajab [al-'Ani], with the commentary of the sanctified: Sheikh Ibrahim 'Abd al-Latif:
His saying:
And our Master shall appear upon a Lion, From the Eye of the Sun; in the souls, He inspires Awe (al-Rahab).
His saying 'And our Master shall appear': That refers to the day of the White Return (al-Raj'a al-Bayda'), the Radiant Recurrence (al-Karra al-Zahra'), and the Unveiling of the Covering (Kashf al-Ghita').
His saying 'Upon a Lion': An allusion to the manifestation of Might ('Izza), Omnipotence (Qahr), and the likeness [of his brilliance] to the Middle of the Month [the Full Moon] according to the people of [gnostic] reports.
'Awe' (al-Rahab): Is the fear that grips the souls on that grim day. The Almighty said:
'{O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. On the Day you see it, every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe}.' 1
