From the Book 'Hujjat al-'Arif' (The Proof of the Gnostic) Authored by Sheikh 'Ali bin Hamza bin Shu'ba al-Harrani Composed in the year 400 AH (four hundred after the Hijra)

He says: 'In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. Praise be to God, the Manifest to all existence and vision, the Inward without being confined to a place. We say: The Primordial One has never ceased—from the state of Perfection—to manifest to humans as one of them; rather, He displayed a Form through which He appeared as a sign of Existence and a negation of Non-existence. The proof of this is:

The Power (al-Qudra) He displayed which defied the natural order (kharaqat al-'ada). It is not within the capability of created beings to produce anything like it. Since that Form displayed a Power that creation is incapable of, that Power serves as evidence that the One to whom this Power belongs [is divine]; thus, that Form is not His Form in absolute reality. Rather, it appears in the eyes of humans like a human—in the image of a frail man—so that we might know that this Form is different from the actual composition of humanity, and that the Primordial manifested through it only to affirm His existence and validate His manifestation to humans, and that its [the Form's] true reality is neither sensible nor perceptible.
