So, those who affirmed the Power and denied the [material] Form 1 —those are the true believers; for them are degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and a generous provision.'

As our Master al-Baqir—may His might be exalted—said to Jabir (peace be upon him): When Jabir asked him about this, he replied: 'O Jabir, negate what you see, and affirm what you know.'

Jabir asked: 'My Master, if I negate what I see with my eyes, then what is it that I know with my heart?' He replied: 'Negate the [material] Form 2 that you see, and affirm the Power (al-Qudra) that you know—the Power of your Master, the Anza' Batin.'

Jabir asked: 'My Master, what is the Anza' Batin?'

He replied: 'He is your Master: Anza' (stripped/withdrawn) from the Human Nature (al-Nasut), and Batin (replete/filled) with the Divinity (al-Lahut). He is the Form, yet the Form is not Him.'

Jabir asked: 'My Master, how can He be the Form, yet the Form is not Him?' He—may His might be exalted—replied: 'Verily, the Visual Form is the Ultimate Goal. He, the Almighty, is a Form unlike other forms, a Body unlike other bodies, an Instrument unlike other instruments, and a Light unlike other lights... etc.'
