And regarding the question: "By what do you find Him?" 'We find Him through His manifest actions, His overmastering power, the emergence of created events that point toward Him, and the continuous chain of dependency of all manufactured things upon Him.'"
And regarding the question: 'And who is it that finds Him?' It is the Perfect Human (al-Insan al-Kamil), the Gnostic, the Virtuous—the one whose essence has become purified and whose [spiritual] faculties have reached perfection. He knows that He is the 'Supreme over His servants,' manifest to both the elite and the common folk across the horizons of His earth and lands. He does not vanish for even the blink of an eye from any of the realms, [remaining present] through His Luminous, Unveiled Form (al-Surah al-Nuraniyya al-Anza’iyya), even if He seems distant. He makes this luminosity known to whomever He wills.
As our Master al-Sadiq—may His might be exalted—said in describing the People of Certainty: 'Verily, they behold their Master, and they behold His Name and His Gate. Their gaze upon Him is never obstructed by a towering mountain, a lofty peak, a deep sea, or a surrounding wall. Rather, He remains before their very eyes wherever they wish and desire. So, blessed is he whom God has granted success in this, and woe to him who is deprived of it.'"
