So our lord, great is his power, said: O Mufaddal, indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for people of intellect.
O Mufaddal, our knowledge is difficult and arduous, and our secret is a hidden secret, and ruggedly tough; it does not settle except in the hearts of its people, and it is not permissible for any of the people of knowledge to translate from it openly by word of mouth, because it is a secret far from the tongue to be translated from, or to be spoken of, except by allusion and not by explicit declaration. And our followers are only known by their comprehension of us and their knowledge in us; so woe and destruction to whoever narrates what he does not comprehend or believes what he is unable to manage when he is in need of it, and what is not conceived in mind nor is sound in intellect; and that is the faith of tongue, and thought of senses, and proof in it is against its possessor; that is because the Quran was revealed with the meaning: I mean you and listen, O neighbor.
