Do you know, O Mufaddal, why the Name was called Ahmad? I said: no my Lord; He said: from creatures’ praise and following him. O Mufaddal, who said: O Allah and other Divine names; only through the One that he sought intercession and supplicated.

O Mufaddal, have you not heard His saying: indeed, this is my straight path, so follow it. As for the Bridge mentioned by the commonality of those who do not know, sharper than sword, thinner than hair, its thinness is his hidden knowledge; and its straightness is his affirmation of that visible radiant Anza’iyyah form, which is manifest and apparent; who affirmed this form, knowing it is Divinity’s outer, stayed straight on the path with no crookedness, knew hidden secret and glowing light.

O Mufaddal, know that the names of the Name occur by the Gate, and all Gate’s names occur upon those below of high rank people. Similarly letters; know that, ascertain it from hidden kingdom knowledge and guarded secret. Do not bestow it except upon those among the believers who are worthy of it, who reached Allah’s knowledge and monotheism.
