Thus, the Gnosis (Ma'rifa) has been completed for you, and the Blessing has been made ample thereby. So be among the grateful for that, and among those who praise your Master.
Convey this to all your brothers among the cognizant believers. Allah has spoken as a discipline which He made mandatory regarding His Name, His Self, and His Veil—and He is more Sublime, Great, Splendid, and Higher in station than this discourse. Allah intended thereby a discipline for the believers and a mercy, so that they do not rely upon the Opposites (al-Addad) and the people of denial and defiance. He warned them and forbade them from that, as He, the Blessed and Exalted, said: {And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little. Then [if you had], We would have made you taste double [the punishment] of life and double [the punishment] of death} 1 .
This is a symbol of speech and a sign toward something else. So let the people of faith beware of that double [punishment] of life and double [punishment] of death, for it is a momentous matter and a grave affair to which one is returned in [successive] transmutations (nusakh).
