So hasten to my command, for it is the command of Allah."
Then He—may His Might be exalted—said: "O Jabir, would you like me to show you the origin of the one who was [the cause of] their misguidance and the bane which Allah has made manifest in them—including all that they possess following their response to him? For the attributes, marks, and qualities were generated from him; they are gathered in him, he is their root, and from him they branched out and dispersed among his party, his factions, his followers, and the people who responded to his call, regarding whom Allah the Exalted said: {And indeed, Iblis [Satan] proved true his thought about them, and they followed him, except for a few} 1 ." I said: "O my Master, if you bestow a favor upon me, I shall be grateful; and if you single me out with a virtue, I shall be thankful as you are worthy and its patron, for that grace is upon all your servants."
Then He—may His Might be exalted—said: "O Jabir, call him, for he will answer you."
