The Commander of the Faithful has given sincere counsel, and I have counseled you through his tongue and his warning. Follow your guide to right guidance and avoid the path that leads to destruction. Toward ease I direct you, and away from [bitter] patience I turn you. Lo, whoever answers a caller to the Truth has found right guidance, and whoever listens to a croaker [false caller] has gone astray, wandered, and failed. Despite that, I am compassionate toward you and merciful to you, for I am the Most Merciful of the merciful."

Then the Commander of the Faithful ceased speaking when he reached the end of his explanation and speech. The gathering dispersed from his presence, having gained [knowledge] just as you have gained at this moment from what you heard from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad. So, will you accept from him and seek guidance through what he has brought and explained? And are you fearful of descending into that which your Master brought and described?

I said, and the group said: "O our Master, we desire nothing except what you have made us desire, and we beware of nothing except what you warn us against. We submit to your command and your prohibition, for there is none more compassionate, more kind, or more merciful toward us than you; nor anyone more complete in bestowing favor, more universal in excellence, more gracious in blessing, more ample in wellbeing, more capable of removing distress, more shielding against affliction, more just in judgment, or more effective in governance. For you are the Initiator of what you willed and its Restorer, the Manifester of what was hidden and its Proclaimer."
