Afterward, he called for the table for lunch and ordered the prepared food to be brought; so they began bringing it to us. Then he said to us: "Eat now of their meat and break their bones." We proceeded to do so.

When the group had eaten their fill, he called for them to wash; they washed their hands, and every person among us took his seat. My Master had something in his soul that he wished to manifest to me and to the group. When the group was settled in the assembly, my Master said: "O Jabir, do you know—and does the group know—whose meat you have eaten, whose blood you have shed, and through whom you have sought nearness to your Lord and Master?" I replied: "O my Master, as for Jabir, he has no knowledge of that." And the group said: "Likewise, all your followers have no knowledge just as Jabir has no knowledge. So if you would be so gracious, then bless your followers with this knowledge; and if you bestow this favor, you are indeed the worthy source of every honor and excellence, and the locus of all grace and gratitude."

He said: "O Jabir, you have sought nearness to Allah through the people of adornment and denial—those who established the foundations of tyranny and erected the pillars of transgression in every era and age. Through their misguidance, the people of confusion went astray, and by their denial, the people of enmity took their lead.
