He would then say: "Exchange my blade for yours," and the other would say: "Take it." Yet, as soon as he took it and it was in his hand, he would contemplate it, and in his contemplation, he would find his own name and his father’s name written upon it. The other person would find the same. The group’s amazement at this grew long, while my Master watched them and what they were experiencing without speaking to any of them.

Then he said to the servant: "Open the door of that chamber." So he opened the door of a chamber he had on the side of the house. He then said to the group: "Let each one of you stand and enter that chamber to find a sheep; let him take it and come out." Jabir said: "I was the first to stand and enter the chamber, but there was only a single sheep therein—nothing else. It was a horned ram, massive in body, with high horns, thick hair, and a great belly. Its eyes were reddened, its ears were transparent, and its lips were drooping. Its tongue lolled out like a forearm’s length. I became afraid of it and wary that it might strike at me, so I intended to turn back and exit because of its fearsome appearance. However, I feared that by doing so, I would be disobeying my Master’s command—especially since I had rushed ahead of the people. I said to myself: 'If I reach out for this sheep, take it, and leave, the next person will enter to take one but will find nothing, for there is no other here besides this one.'"
