Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju‘fi, peace be from him, said: "Then, as the sun rose higher, my Master—may His Might be exalted—said: 'O Jabir, call the servant.' So I called him to him. He—may His Might be exalted—said to him: 'Bring the blades (al-Shifar) that I commanded you to prepare yesterday.
"The servant went and soon returned, carrying in his hand a basket that he could hardly bear the weight of, and he placed it before us. Then my Master—may His Might be exalted—said: 'O Jabir, let every person among you reach his hand into this basket and take whichever of these blades he wishes.' Every one of us reached into the basket and took a blade, until there was not one of us left who did not have a blade in his hand. All that was in the basket was exhausted, as if they had been counted precisely to our number. Jabir said: 'When the blades were in our hands, they were sharp-edged. Each person among us began to contemplate his blade, and upon contemplation, he found his name and his father's name written upon it. He wondered at this and turned to the one beside him, saying: 'O brother, have you seen anything more wondrous than this? I reached my hand into those blades and took a blade upon which my name and my father's name are written!'"
The other would reply: "I am the same." One would say: "Show me your blade," and upon seeing it, he would find it exactly as described.
