POETRY BY THE TRUSTWORTHY SHEIKH MAYMUN AL-TABARANI

We write poetry by the Trustworthy Sheikh, Abu Sa'id Maymun ibn al-Qasim al-Tabarani, author of Kitab al-Ma'arif—which is a masterpiece for every Gnostic. It is as follows:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

By Your Essence, O God of the worlds,

And what You manifested for the beholders.

To enable them to see its likeness [as] when

It appeared to them as the genus of created beings.

And affirmations and bringing into existence shone for us;

Exalted [is He] above the conjectures of the deceived.

Without encompassing—collectively and individually;

And [without] confinement that conjectures encompass.

By what You disclosed from Yourself as an innovation,
