So Moses held intimate discourse with his Lord and said: "My God and my Master, indeed Your servants do not know him, nor does he confess to them. So make him known to them so that they may expel him from their abodes."
Then Allah revealed to him: "O Moses, I did not approve of slander for My servant; so how should I act as a slanderer to you regarding him, O Children of Israel?"
The slanderer heard [this], so he said within himself: "Allah is the Knower of me and of what I conceal and hide. The Children of Israel asked that Allah guide them to me, yet He covered [me] and did not guide them to me. So, by Allah, I shall surely repent from slander with a repentance concerning which Allah shall know my fulfillment."
So He revealed to Moses: "Indeed, My servant, the slanderer, has repented a sincere repentance, and I have accepted his repentance. So say to the Children of Israel: 'Beware of slander, for it severs provision, ruins abodes, and curtails the lifespan. And whoever slanders has indeed killed, and whoever kills, his recompense is Hell, and wretched is the destination. Then Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, gave them rain to drink, revived them, and flourished their abodes. And you are asking me to inform you of the man who concealed within himself what I have related to you.
