Mention of the Festival of Mihrajan

And it is the sixteenth day of the month of Tishrin al-Awwal (October) in every year. It possesses great honor and is extracted from the reports (Akhbar) of Nowruz.

And it is what Abu al-Qasim Al-Husayn ibn Ahmad ibn Harun Al-Baghdadi, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated. He said: "Our Master Abu Abdallah Al-Husayn ibn Hamdan Al-Khasibi, may Allah sanctify his soul, told me, from Ahmad ibn Sandula, Al-Abbas Al-Labban, and Ali ibn Hassan. They all said: 'We entered upon our Master Abu Shu'ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr, to him belongs submission, on the day of Nowruz. So he welcomed us, brought our seating closer, and said:

"Sit, for there shall come to you on this noble day, from your Master Abu Muhammad, that which will please you." And he commanded us to bring every Neighbor (Mujawir) 1 in Samarra. So they were brought until not one of them remained except that he was present.

And he proceeded to present us with fruits that were not of that time nor of that season, nor was it their period of the year, nor are they [usually] found or seen. And likewise, strange types of aromatic plants (Rayahin) novel [plants], along with types of perfume and luxurious essence.

Footnotes
