The Sermon of Eid al-Fitr
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater, exceedingly; praise be to Allah, abundantly; and glory and praise be to Allah, morning and afternoon. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the Causer of every cause, the Manifest in every creed, the Eternalizer of eternity, who is transcendent above [having] a consort or a son; the High, the Great, the Pre-eternal, the Ancient. His Essence is too exalted for [human] perception and is transcendent above peers and association (Ishrak). He is the One (al-Ahad) in His permanence, the Unique (al-Fard) in His eternal refuge.
May Allah bless His originated Name (Ismihi al-Mubtada‘) and His invented Veil (Hijabihi al-Mukhtara‘), whom He brought forth from the light of His Essence and ordained for the needs of the creation. [He is] the Ordainer of laws and creeds, the Guide of every nation, the Remover of maladies, and the Meaning (Ma‘na) of every appointed time and term. {And We have certainly presented for the people in this Quran from every [kind of] example}—{The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion} 1 .So, glory be to the One who manifests from Himself, to Himself, by His knowledge; and blessed be the Speaker [who said]: {So whoever among you witnesses the month, let him fast it} 2 .
