Muhammad, the Praise, is for us a goal
With the Religion and the various forms of glorification
He is the Prayer, the Obligation, and the Devotion
And the Fasting, the Fitr, and what is hoped for
And every rite and every festival.
It has been narrated from the Knower (al-‘Alim), may His Might be exalted, that he said: "Since Allah is One (Ahad) eternally, likewise His Name is One (Wahid) eternally. And since His Name is One eternally, likewise His Gate (Bab) is Unicity (Wahdaniyyah) eternally."
Since al-Sayyid Muhammad is the personified essence (Shakhs) of Eid al-Fitr, food was made permissible therein, the fasting was broken, and it was commanded to give the Zakat al-Fitr openly. [Also commanded were] the prayer on the day of the Eid, the Takbir with the raising of the hands, and the recitation therein aloud. Thus, it became a continuous Sunnah, for the future and the past, according to what he—blessings of Allah be upon him—commanded, as Allah the Almighty said in His Dear Book: {And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from} 1 .
