He said: "O Mu'alla ibn Khunays, the Day of Nowruz is the day on which Allah took the Covenant (Mithaq) of the servants that they should know Him and worship Him, and not doubt nor associate anything with Him.

And it is the day of establishing the Proof (Hujjah) for His Awliya against His enemies.

And it is the first day on which the sun rose, and the fertilizing winds blew. And it is the day on which the earth split open to reveal its blossom.

And it is the day on which Noah's Ark settled upon [Mount] Judi.

And it is the day on which the Messenger of Allah, may His Might be exalted, carried the Commander of the Faithful (Amir al-Mu'minin) upon his shoulders until he threw Hubal down from the Ancient House and broke it.

And it is the first day on which Allah created the flower of the earth.

And it is the day on which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revived the people who went out of their homes for fear of death, and they were then thousands.
