And among what our Sheikh and Master Abu Abdallah Al-Husayn ibn Hamdan Al-Khasibi, may Allah honor his station and elevate his rank, narrated with a sound chain of transmission from the Trustworthy ones (Thiqat), tracing it up to Al-Mu'alla ibn Khunays. Al-Khasibi, peace be upon him, narrated from Al-Mu'alla ibn Khunays that he said:
I came to the House of my Master Abu Abdallah Ja'far ibn Muhammad As-Sadiq, may His Might be exalted, on the morning of the day of Nowruz.
He said to me: "O Mu'alla, what is this day?"
I said: "May I be made your ransom, this is a day which the Persians magnify; they exchange gifts in it, visit one another, and treat one another with kindness."
He, may His Might be exalted, said: "Nay, by the Lord of the Ancient House (Al-Bayt Al-Haram) which is in the belly of Mecca, they did not magnify this day except for an ancient matter. And I will interpret it for you with authority so that you may know it and understand it."
I said: "May I be made your ransom, O my Master. For me to know this from You is more beloved to me than hearing it from anyone else, and may Allah suppress Your enemies."
