The beginning of the Roman (Julian/Gregorian) year is Kanun al-Thani (January), Shubat (February), and Adhar (March), and the months of the year that follow. In Kanun al-Awwal (December), during the last ten days of it, the Master the Messiah manifested his birth; the mention of the Night of the Nativity and its supplication shall follow. The beginning of the Arab year in the Muhammadan Dome (al-Qubba al-Muhammadiyya) is the month of al-Muharram and the months that follow; in it is the Day of 'Ashura, and its mention and its supplication shall follow. And the beginning of the year of the Monotheists (al-Muwahhidun) Of the manifest Khasibi sect (al-Ta'ifa al-Khasibiyya al-Jaliyya) is the Month of Ramadan. It is the first of the Arab months according to the order established by our Master Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi, may Allah sanctify his soul. This is his statement in his treatise when he was asked about the Year and the twelve months, and about the Month of Ramadan among them, and what its thirty days are, and what its thirty nights are. He answered—may Allah ennoble his station—[stating]:

That the Year is al-Sayyid Muhammad, may His Might be exalted, and in it are twelve months. The first of them is the Month of Ramadan, and it is 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, as previously mentioned.
