He said to me: 'Look, O Salman.'
When my Master said, 'Look, O Salman,' I opened my eyes and saw from the worlds of my Lord [so many] categories and species of creation that no one could count or know them except Him. There remained neither white nor black [soul] but that it was gathered in that al-Baqi'; and likewise all beasts, wild animals, birds, and creeping things. I said: 'There is no power nor strength except by Allah, the Exalted, the Great. This is a momentous affair! Is this the Night of Resurrection, and is tomorrow its morning, when the creatures are gathered?'
He—may His Might be glorified—said: 'O Salman, look at what you see before Me.' I stretched my gaze, and behold, before Him were scrolls whose number I could not calculate; they were white, with nothing inscribed upon them. I said: 'O my Master, I have seen these scrolls before You.' He said: 'Look at what you see in them.' I said: 'O my Master, I have examined them, but I do not see anything in them.'
He—may His Might be glorified—said: 'O Salman, look at them again.' I returned my gaze to them, and behold, they were filled from edge to edge with writing! I said: 'O my Master, I see them filled from edge to edge with writing.'
He said: 'O Salman, this is their recompense—of good and evil, pardon and punishment, provision and lifespan—from this night until a night like it.
