He said: 'Yes, O Salman, and they have in this location—on every night such as this night, which is the Night of the Middle of Sha'ban—a standing [an appointment] wherein I station them, and I ask them about that which I ask them about on this night, until Allah manifests His command and reveals His Essence. I [also] call to witness against them their deeds, and I reveal to them what they had concealed in the presence of a Wali (Friend) of My friends. Do you know who they are, O Salman?'

I said: 'No, by Allah, O my Master, I do not know them, nor did I ever think that two camels could be as You have described; this is truly a momentous thing!'

He said to me: 'O Salman, you shall know them with a true, certain, and firm knowledge.'

I said: 'Your word is the truth, O my Master.'

He said to me: 'O Salman, call them to Me by their names.'

I said: 'O my Master, I do not know their names; do they even have names?'

He said: 'Yes, call out: "O Dalal (Deviation) and O Wabal (Calamity), appear!"'

I called out: 'O Dalal and O Wabal, appear!'
