The Supplication for the Night of the Middle of Sha'ban
Attributed to our Master, Abu Khalid Abdullah ibn Ghalib al-Ka’ili—peace be upon him:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
O Allah, I ask You, O Most High, O Most Great, O You who have ascended above Your creation by Your power, and are unique in Your majesty, and are One in Your divinity and honor. You are exalted, O my Master, above the descriptions of Your servants; imaginations cannot attain You, and thoughts cannot encompass the essence of Your reality. You are the Worshipped through every tongue, the Witnessed by the eye, the King, the Truth, the Bestower of favors. O Most High, O Most Merciful, I ask You by every name through which You are called when You are petitioned—for there is nothing greater than You—O Ancient of Ancients, O Eternal Wisdom, O You who crafted the heavens by Your craftsmanship and spread the earth by Your grace and power. O You who guided to Yourself by Yourself, and brought comfort to the creation through Your form; You appeared to them from the perspective of their being, and remained hidden to Yourself from the perspective of Your Essence.
