Indeed, Ramadan is in the highest place; Ramadan is higher than what you imagine. The rank of Ramadan is great, and its station is lofty. It is close to us, and there is nothing closer in station than it, nor more majestic in rank before Allah, nor more noble in position, nor higher in place before Allah in terms of honor, majesty, glorification, nobility, and preference. He made all the days of the Month of Ramadan an obligatory duty and a binding necessity, and He made its nights into various essential [spiritual] arts.

In it, He placed the Night of Power (Laylat al-Qadr), which is better than a thousand months; in it, the Quran was revealed; in it, the letters were composed; from it comes the letter of speech; and in it are the decisive verses of the Revelation from One who is Wise and Acquainted.

The Month of Ramadan is not like other months; its days are not like other days, and its nights are not like other nights. Its days are signs (Dalalat), and its nights are dazzling. The Month of Ramadan is of great importance, its standing is majestic, its mention is grand, and its place is noble. Its days are radiant, its nights are brilliant, its times are luminous, and its hours are shining. Its beginning is Witnessing (Shahada), its middle is Elevation (Rifa‘a), and its end is Gnosis (Ma‘rifa).
