The Remembrance of the Night of the Middle of Sha'ban
The Night of the Middle of Sha'ban is the end of the Khasibite year. It is a night of immense magnitude and nobility—the most honorable of the month's nights, the greatest in stature, and the most exalted in remembrance. In it, the Ziyarah (pilgrimage) of our Master al-Husayn—may His Might be glorified—is performed, and therein were slain [Dalal and Wabal]—may Allah curse them both. It is the night of which Allah the Exalted said: "Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. On that night is made distinct every precise matter" 1 .
It is therefore incumbent upon the believers to gather on this night and observe it through joy, happiness, wholesome discourse concerning the Servant of Light (Abd al-Nur), and praise unto Allah—glorified be His mention—and unto His Names, His Stations, His Gates, and His Holy Ranks.
And I, my master, by the grace and favor of Allah—may Allah make you prosperous—mention for you what our master Abu Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi—may Allah honor his station—has conveyed, and what he explained in the Risalat al-Rastabashiyyah regarding its greatness and dazzling proof.
