Second Supplication for the Feast of the Ninth of Rabi‘ al-Awwal

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

O Allah, I ask You, O my Master, O Prince of the Bees (Amir al-Nahl), O Ali, O Great One. And I seek help from You, I place my trust in You, I believe in You, and I seek refuge in You.

O You who manifested His Name through appearance to the creation without likeness, and appeared as His Name without a helper, nor an equal, nor a formation 1 . So He was, in His appearance in the visible image for the sake of familiarity 2 , a human name; and in His interiority to those who know Him, a radiant, eternal (Samadani) light and a universal meaning.

O Allah, truly You are too exalted for manifestations in human bodies, even if visual perception fell upon You; and I declare You transcendent above incarnation in the turbid, earthen form and the witnessing of eyes. Vision does not comprehend You, nor does limitation apply to You. Rather, You turn the hearts and the minds, and You are the Most High, the All-Forgiving.
