I said: 'I wrote the note that reached you, and I went to him early to ask him to deliver it to you and to support it with some of his words and utterance, so that it would be more effective with you. I found him in a certain state on that day of his. He said to me:
(This is not a day in which a creature petitions another creature regarding a need. Rise and do such-and-such, and seek God [directly], for He is more successful).
So I went out and complied with what he commanded me. I asked God with supplications, and I asked those present to say "Amen" to my prayer, and they said "Amen".
When I arrived at my home, I had placed the note under my pillow upon which I place my head when I sleep. I spent my night. When morning came, your messenger came to me with what you sent and with a note. I broke it open and read it, and found within it the mention of the arrival of my note. I was amazed at that and said: (I never delivered the note to him, and the note is under my pillow!).
