I said to one of the maidservants: 'See who is at the door.' The maid went out and returned, saying: 'This is the messenger of so-and-so, the scribe.' I said: 'Let him enter.'
The messenger entered into my presence, carrying a Safaṭ 1 , a Tukht2 , a sealed Kīs 3 , and a rolled-up Ruq‘ah (note). He placed them before me and said: 'Do you command me with anything?' I replied: 'In the protection (ease) 4 of God.' So he departed. My family rushed toward me, overcome with intense joy and delight. They opened the Safaṭ, and behold, in it were ten garments of fine Egyptian fabric (Daqq Miṣr). They undid the Tukht, and behold, in it were ten garments of fine Khorasan fabric, and of robes (Ḥulal), Maṣmah, Nātij, Nasīj, and ‘Atābī—each garment of which provided three cuts. Likewise was what was in the Safaṭ.
They undid the Kīs, and behold, in it were five thousand dinars and a hundred Naddahs 5 mixed among the dinars.
