But if the possessor of need, poverty, and destitution is, in his view, excluded, avoided, and he is arrogant towards him; and when he approaches the owner of wealth, he distances himself from him; and if he visits him, he disassociates from him; and if he meets him, he turns away from him; and if he gives him something of his world, he reminds him of the favor [condescendingly]; And he says following that: "If my Master wanted to enrich this one, He would have enriched him, but He is angry with him, so how can I be opposing Him in His action? Rather, in that I am following His will regarding him." So he cuts off his connection, denies him his kindness, and does not see [fit] sitting with him or being friendly with him. And he faults 1 him in his solitudes 2 . And the greatest woe befalling him is if he confronts him with what is other than him 3 . And the greatest woe is if he scolds him 4 . And what is after that cannot be encompassed by description.
For God the Exalted says at that [moment]: "This is My servant; I tested him with his sin so that I might purge him of it and purify him from it. Then indeed, I will return to him with My bounty, just as I bestowed bounty upon the one who opposed Me regarding him, and [who] imitated Me and claimed that he pleases Me with his deed, while it is My anger against him and My satisfaction with the one he mistreated."
