And the Supplication on this Day

What was narrated by the Amir Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Abi al-Abbas from his Sheikh Abu al-Hasan al-Baladi, may God sanctify their spirits. The hadith is traced up to Dawud ibn Kathir al-Rayy, he said:

I asked our Master Abu Abd Allah al-Sadiq, may his might be mighty, about the inner meaning (Batin) of the visitation (Ziyarah), so he said:

"O Dawud, do you not know that God has praiseworthy spots wherein He loves for His Name to be mentioned, and they are the places of the Imam's ascension? Is it not [true] that whoever comes to a spot and seeks indication therein of a close one (Wali) to God to seek blessing through him, is among the people with the greatest burden? Because he has approached the Shi'a in their belief, and the belief of the People of Monotheism (Ahl al-Tawhid) is contrary to that."

"And among what supports the correctness of that is what is inscribed at the beginning of the first visitation in the middle of Sha'ban, and it is his saying: 'And that is because the exoteric Shi'a believed that our Master al-Husayn, may his might be mighty, is buried in that spot, and that He does not accept a visitation from them except therein...' up to his saying: 'And that is due to their doubt, their disbelief, their apostasy (Maraq), and their straying.'"
