"Then my Master handed me the fresh dates that were before him and commanded me to eat from them. So I ate, and I had gathered their pits in my hand. So when I stood up, I counted what I had eaten, and behold, they were seventeen pits. And I counted what my Master had handed to me, and behold, it was according to the number of the pits that I had eaten, not increasing upon it by one."

"So I came to al-Hir and entered where the gathering of the people of Tarabay was. So I began handing a fresh date to every man until I came to the last of them with the last of the fresh dates. So I knew that there was no one among the people of Tarabay who was upon what I am upon except those to whom I handed the fresh dates."

"Then I performed the visitation (Ziyarah) on the like of that day, and it was the year twenty-five, and behold, my Master al-Hasan (may his might be mighty), under this very palm tree, and before him were fresh dates (Rutab) in a tray. When he saw me, he said to me: "O Ali ibn Ahmad." I said: "At your service (Labbayk), O my Master."

He said: "Did you not eat from these fresh dates on such-and-such day of such-and-such month, and the amount of what you ate was such-and-such? And your Master handed to you [dates] after you ate, and enjoined upon you what he enjoined upon you, and directed you with what he directed you, and encouraged you regarding it, and made you his ambassador among his close ones (Awliya) in spreading the repetition of what he encouraged? And you handed over what he handed to you to the people of Tarabay who were with you in al-Hir, so nothing remained with you from it regarding anyone of them?"
