Visitation of the Day of Ashura
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Peace be upon you, O Shining Light, O Brilliant Radiance, O Piercing Meteor, O Argument against the world, O Trustworthy Handhold, O Door of Certainty, and O Firm Rope. I bear witness that you were not killed, nor were you overcome, nor were you vanquished, nor did you die, nor did you sleep. Rather, you manifested the Occultation by your power, and you veiled yourself from the eyes of the beholders by your wisdom. And you, O my master, are present, not absent; witnessing, not distant; you hear the speech and return the answer. Upon you, O my master, be peace, and from you is peace.
I have come to you, O my master, as a visitor, knowing your merit, acknowledging your appearance, seeking refuge in you, worshipping your forms, disassociating myself from whoever set himself up for your war and intended to fight you. I have disassociated from him, while you are too exalted for his will [to affect you], too great for his intent, and too mighty in your power for killing, captivity, overcoming, and compulsion. You give life to whom You will, You cause to die whom You will, and You provide for whom You will without account.
