This is the night, so take it as a mount (cover), and let every man among you take the hand of a man from my family and go about his business; and you are absolved from my allegiance."

So they wept and said: "What will be our excuse before the people if they ask us and we say to them: 'We abandoned our Master and fled, and we did not strike with a sword for him, nor did we thrust with a spear for him'? There is no good in life after you."

At that moment, he appeared to them in the Luminous State (al-Nuraniyya), so they fell down prostrating to him and proclaiming his Oneness (Tawhid). Then he created from the good deeds (Hasanat) of the People of the Bank (the enemy army) who were opposite him a person, and He gave them power over it, so they killed it. Thus, they weep over [the loss of] their good deeds until the Day of Resurrection.

And from him, he said: It was narrated from one of the Gnostic believers (al-Mu'minin al-Arifin) that it was said to him: "By what did you know Allah?"

He said: "He appeared, so I found Him."

It was said: "How did He appear so you found Him?"

He said: "When He addressed the world and said: 'Am I not your Lord?' They said: 'Yes.'"
