So the Adversaries (al-Ahdad) used grief, weeping, wearing black, and displaying sorrow and mourning therein.
While the Men of Monotheism used joy, delight, and praise to Allah (Glory be to Him and Exalted is He), and supplication and beseeching Him, and affirmation of His Oneness therein—contrary to what the deniers said.
And our Master al-Khasibi (may Allah make his face radiant) said these verses:
And a weeper weeping over his Lord;
I am not, praise be to Allah, of his party.
And whenever a friend wailed for him
Over that which he neglected regarding His side [or right].
He weeps over the slain one in Karbala;
May the Merciful not lighten his distress
Apologizing for the evil of his deeds,
But his excuse is greater than his sin.
I said to him: Do not weep for that one whom
The enemies do not covet to overcome.
