But this has no basis; rather, he was ransomed Ishmael—and he is the Name [referring] to the Second (may Allah curse him)—is the one upon whom the mutilation befell. By him, al-Husayn was ransomed at Karbala, and Hanzalah established a likeness for him. His "greatness" [in the term Great Sacrifice] is neither a matter of pride nor praise; rather, he is the greatest of creations in sin and burden.

And he (may Allah ennoble his station) said in a merit other than this from his treatise: "So all the violence and mutilation, and everything we have mentioned that appeared in all the stations (Maqamat)—and regarding the Gnostics in all stations, those of the Luminous and Earthen ranks—it effectively befell the one who committed it and enacted it. He is the Iblis of Iblises, the Pharaoh of Pharaohs, the unique Satan, Sakad bin al-Khattab (may Allah curse him forever)."

The reality of the Day of Karbala, as narrated by the Men of Monotheism (Rijal al-Tawhid), is that it is a day of Occultation (Ghayba) and Manifestation (Zuhur). Our Master al-Husayn (Mighty is His Glory) manifested Occultation therein, and our Master Ali bin al-Husayn removed [the veil] and appeared like his image; for that reason, it was said: "Occultation and Manifestation." And regarding Occultation and Manifestation, there is a report we shall narrate after finishing this chapter.
