He passed by Umm Ma’bad al-Khuza’iyyah and stayed with her, then proceeded on his way until he reached Medina. His entire stay in Mecca, until his departure for Medina, was thirteen years from the beginning of his mission (Mighty is His Glory).

And some have narrated, saying: When Allah revealed in Mecca much regarding his [manifest] appearance, his rising with the sword, and what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) would grant him of victory—along with many reports whose explanation would be lengthy—it all came to pass exactly as he had foretold and described, without omitting a single thing. When this became too much for the polytheists of Quraysh to bear, they covenanted among themselves to delegate one man from every tribe—as mentioned in the first report—and they surrounded his house. The Messenger of Allah (Mighty is His Glory) went out to them, took a handful of dust, threw it at them, and said: "May these faces be deformed!" Not one of them saw him, for Allah had stricken their vision. They continued looking at Ali upon his bed until they gathered their strength and burst in upon him. Then [Ali] rose against them with his sword, and when they beheld him, they were veiled [and barred] from reaching him. Thus, the Messenger of Allah (Mighty is His Glory) departed for Medina.
