Mention of the Festival of the Bed (Eid al-Firash)

It is the twenty-ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah in every year, and it holds great honor and immense virtue among the People of Monotheism (Ahl al-Tawhid). Among what has been narrated regarding it is what was reported by the Master, Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi—may Allah illumine his face—in his well-known book titled The Guidance (al-Hidaya).

He said: Ja‘far ibn Muhammad ibn Malik narrated to me, from Yahya ibn Yazid al-Husayni, from his father, from Zayd ibn ‘Abd Allah, from al-Hasan ibn Musa ibn Ja‘far, from his father Musa ibn Ja‘far, from Ja‘far al-Sadiq, from his father Muhammad al-Baqir, from his father ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn—may Their glory be exalted—who said:

When Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Ansari—peace be upon him—met him with the message from his grandfather, the Messenger of Allah—may His glory be exalted—to his son Muhammad al-Baqir, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn said to him: "O Jabir, did you witness the report of my grandfather, the Messenger of Allah—may His glory be exalted—on the Day of the Cave?"

He said: "No, O son of the Messenger of Allah."

He said: "Then I shall narrate it to you, O Jabir."
