A Second Prayer for al-Mubahala
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
O Allah, I ask You, O High, O Great, by the niches of Your lights and the mines of Your secrets; O Pre-eternal, O Ancient, O Originator, O Wise. I ask You, O my Master, by the Name which You invented from the Light of the Essence, and which You chose in the recurrent cycles (al-Karrat) and the returns (al-Raj'at). You assigned to it mercy and power, while You remained transcendent above names, attributes, fathers, and mothers; for You, O my Master, are the Ultimate of Ultimates, the Manifester of brilliant powers, and the Reviver of decayed bones 1 . I ask You, O my Master, by the Mim-identity (al-Mimiyya), the Sin-identity (al-Siniyya), the Essential Power, and the universal, pre-eternal Cause; by the shimmering lights, the hidden names, the Salsali Gates, and the chosen Orphans (al-Aytam) 2 ; by the twelve Captains (al-Nuqaba'), the noble Nobles (al-Nujaba'), the pure Specialists (al-Mukhtassin), the sincere Devotees (al-Mukhlisin), and the pious tested ones—that You send blessings upon Your Name, Your Self, Your Throne, and Your Veil, O Creator of creation.
